Care staff are expected to hold current first-aid and Basic Life Support training so they can act with adults in an emergency; the Barbados Community College Certificate in Nursing Auxiliary Studies embeds First Aid and BLS in its curriculum, and private elder-care employers also accept a standalone recognized certificate. The precise requirement is set by the programme and the employer rather than by a single residential-care regulation.
